Ivan Toney
I don't know! How much would we accept if you said a silly amount say 50 or 60 ?
I don't know! How much would we accept if you said a silly amount say 50 or 60 ?
Like who? ?
It’s £50m for 17 Premier League clubs and:Newcastle for a start. They’ve failed with a £30m bid for an untried kid in Ekitike and desperately need a CF. Luckily, Phil will tell them it’s £70m ?
Nathan Ake, a very ordinary cover centre back cost £41M, we can expect to ask for more for a proven goal scorer.![]()
Brentford want at least £40m for Man Utd and Newcastle target Ivan Toney
Toney is one of a number of strikers just below the top tier of established internationals who have had huge price tags applied to them this summerinews.co.uk
We want £40 mil no offers yet
Can you see us spending 30 million on one player. Who do you suggest.I'd probably accept 50 million tbh, he's been very good for us but truth be told, I'm not sure he's as good, as say Raya, Norgaard and Henry...
Take 50, give PG 30 and I have faith we'd get a replacement.
It's just the Brentford way. Not sure how much more development there is in him and he's at his most valuable at the moment. Sell at peak value if we can, that's the mantra. There's plenty of goals in the squad if we can get the creative side working like we did with CE in the side. I don't think we'd replace like for like, I think we'd tweak the way we play and that may well work out to be a positive.. Having said all that, I don't think anyone will pay what we want which is likely to be v high...A bit surprised to see some prepared to sell. Yes, an injection of 50 plus would be welcomed to bolster our depth. But whilst we’ve been a model club in selling on and replacing with better, this is different. Proven Goal scorers at this level are rare and cost tons. Double figures last season, that’s not to be overlooked. Wouldn’t sell him at any price, the jeopardy is just too great right now
But to the best of anyone's knowledge (on here at least) none of them ARE interested.Let’s start an auction if Man U, Leeds, West Ham and Newcastle are all interested. I reckon we could get between £50- 60M if we decide to sell, personally I wouldn’t sell now
As has already been pointed out, in recent years teams have paid 50m a piece for WanBissaka and Ben White, 75m+ for Lukaku (twice!), Pepe 70m and 80m for that donkey Maguire. What’s the point of this thread. Brentford won’t accept £30m and no club is paying £40m+.
The Independent stating that Brentford want £40m for Toney. Not sure where they got that from but it seems £10m shy of his market value to.me.As has already been pointed out, in recent years teams have paid 50m a piece for WanBissaka and Ben White, 75m+ for Lukaku (twice!), Pepe 70m and 80m for that donkey Maguire.
Forget what you, or anyone else think he's worth; we'd be mental to let him go for any less than 50m.
There all making it up as they go along. The Independent stating that Brentford want £40m for Toney. Not sure where they got that from but it seems £10m shy of his market value to.me.
No. For that bunch no less than 1 billion.Newcastle for a start. They’ve failed with a £30m bid for an untried kid in Ekitike and desperately need a CF. Luckily, Phil will tell them it’s £70m ?
Totally disagree. Peak value will be when he scores 20 next season, or is well on the way to doing so in January. 5 goals from open play? Definitely room for development. And the mantra is have the replacement lined up. Pretty sure we don't.It's just the Brentford way. Not sure how much more development there is in him and he's at his most valuable at the moment. It doesn't say that. The Independent stating that Brentford want £40m for Toney. Not sure where they got that from but it seems £10m shy of his market value to.me.
You list the clubs who would not offer 50m and I will return to you a list of clubs we won’t be talking to.Like who? ?
IT was a proven lg 1 scorer before we bought him, plenty more pebbles on the beach,A bit surprised to see some prepared to sell. Yes, an injection of 50 plus would be welcomed to bolster our depth. Again, all the reasons bigger clubs are I interestedI dont think you can underestimate the effect he has on the team just by being an outball. Plus of course his decisive work. He also seems someone the players look up to, he has that swag that builds confidence.
I don't think we should sell him just before the season starts, it feels like we would need to change our style of playing.
Another point to consider is that if IT was sold for north of £40 selling clubs will increase the money will be asking for players we are interested in
You do realise that it's very unlikely that Ivan is leaving in this window?Meh. I like Toney. He got us up. But I felt worse when Said, Watkins and Maupay left. (If he does)
Make no mistake we can improve. But then again, we can do worse. But I trust the DoFs to spend the money wisely.
I agree. Tell me we are losing Norgaard or Raya or Pinnock and I will become very sad. Toney we would miss for a short while, but the time would be right to kick on and find someone with the prospect of developing beyond Ivan's ceiling. Or adapt existing players, much like we did with Ollie.Meh. I like Toney. He got us up. But I felt worse when Said, Watkins and Maupay left. (If he does)

Hope you’ve got factor 80 on if you’ve fallen asleep in the sun.
There is no way he’s going
What an un-British suggestion! We just keep a stiff (perspiration soaked) upper lip.Hope you’ve got factor 80 on if you’ve fallen asleep in the sun.
And Ron NoadesWhat an un-British suggestion! We just keep a stiff (perspiration soaked) upper lip.
Remember we survived the Blitz, Battle of Britain, Dunkirk, etc etc etc......plus Tony Blair and Boris. A little bit of weather is just a normal talking point -no more.

No different to when we sold Hogan, Grey, Maupay, Watkins, Benrahma, We have to survive By Selling/Buying, That is our great strength, Much to the annoyance of most other clubs, It also got us to where we are to day, I fully trust how our club works and long may it continue. ? ?A bit surprised to see some prepared to sell. Thing is, peak value doesnt matter to those with bottomless pockets, they will happily buy a 33, 34 year old for 50 million as long as they are doing the business, if he scores 15 this season, somebody will pay 50 million next off seasonIt's just the Brentford way. far better to buy before we sell.I agree. Tell me we are losing Norgaard or Raya or Pinnock and I will become very sad. Toney we would miss for a short while, but the time would be right to kick on and find someone with the prospect of developing beyond Ivan's ceiling. This. We can’t go looking for a replacement now, as other clubs would smell the desperation a mile off.far better to buy before we sell.
given that Man City have sold two top mid-twenties strikers/forwards for + - £50m each makes talk of Our man being worth that a dream.Seems a good time to cash in on toney and if we can get 40 million then happy days.
Isn't that what we've been doing for years now? I reckon his replacement could already have been signed.far better to buy before we sell.
