Andy Scott has made a statement that shows true leadership and sportmanship.
Greg Dyke has made a statement that shows true leadership and sportmanship.
BIAS have made a statement that shows true leadership and sportmanship.
BEES UNITED have....er....not made a statement at all.:(
PLease can someone, on behalf of BU ,please let us know if, bearing in mind the situation, and the importance of our club's reputation, they are in agreement with the statements made by these persons.

Can we stop asking for people to make statements....the club have done enough of that, and we have a football game to win.

Lets focus on the pitch rather than dwell on the sorry mismanagement of Luton Town.
They have some decent players and hopefully, with our title won, it should be a relaxed game of football, with goals, goals, goals...........

Over to Andy !

Is that a statement Smiffy?

Luton protest

Everybody says that the handicap that they were working under was unfair.

If you add thirteen points ie -17 deduction like the others on to their total they would be second bottom having to better Grimsby's result to stay up. If you add ten points as this was the FA penalty for the irregular payments they are still bottom.

With the squad they eventually put together, they should have been nearer Rotherham than ' Muff

Luton protest

Have you decided on what you're asking Santa for this year

How many 'Luton' fans were involved that afternoon and evening against Watford...slightly more than those arrested or jailed though wasn’t it…hundreds more I would estimate...clearly you would have no idea, because the Luton fans you associate with are decent chaps.

The original MIGS are all middle-aged blokes with kids now - considering many of them went to prison after Watford and there will be police and cameras everywhere tomorrow, I wouldn't have thought they'd risk causing any trouble and getting sent down - I doubt most of them will even travel to London tomorrow to be honest.

Luton protest

That great news. You doubt they will travel. Surely we have no need for the biggest police operation ever seen at Griffin Park then!

A statement from BU would help clear up a few things.
Some people closely associated with BU have been posting comments, on this thread and other similar threads, that give some of us the impression that they have a much different view to Andy Scott, Greg Dyke, and BIAS.
In a game of high significance, and potential trouble, I believe it would be a great help if BU would take this opportunity to tell us what it's official view is.
Does it support AS, GD and BIAS on this? Or not?

Luton protest

 Can GEOFFBEE and Brickie Chap have a big hug in the centre circle before kick-off tomorrow which will demonstrate to Luton just how much "love is in the air" ?

Get over it Jeff. Obviously BU back the club and what they are saying on an organisational level. Individuals can have their own views.
A statement on the potential for trouble could be seen as provocative or scaremongering.
Just relax and enjoy the game!

Good post. My brother in law lives across the road from me. He is a Luton fan & a really nice guy who just loves football & follows his team as I do. He's gutted about their position but knows his club have been let down by their board. I've no wish to take the piss out of him 'cos there for the grace of god (& Matthew Benham) there go we. So on Sat, I'm gonna ignore Luton fans & sing my heart out fot the Champions as we did last week. This is about our team & our great club. If there's any agro, then the Met can do what their paid to do. Saturday is about BFC.

Why do people compare our situation to Luton's?
We didn't repeatedly breach the rules once they were established and continue to do so despite the whistle blowing of a former manager.
They maintained a ridiculous budget in the championship and league one and are rightfully suffering.
We are the peoples champions!

Luton protest

Are we trying to drive any new fans away...first we have the transvestite mascot and now manly hugging and kissing is being proposed...

In my opinion BU have every right to be a be reserved with the sympathy hankie, for Luton Town.
Brentford didnt splash the cash, they cut the crap.
We cut our cloth accordingly, close to the line, but didnt over reach ourselves, in the way that Luton, Leeds, Rotherham, Darlington Southampton and Bournemouth all have done to various extents.
Luton went up in 2005, using money and a budget they couldn't sustain.
Their fans are paying the price.

As a fans run club, perhaps BU cannot symbolically look Luton in the eye and feel for the club.

Leave it Geoff.....too many apologies...time for action on the pitch

Not strictly true, transfer fees spent that season - £175k on Warren Feeney.

Transfer fees received - £3m for Curtis Davies, shortly afterwards.

The budget only became unsustainable trying to stay in the Championship - even then we received £13m worth of transfer fees in 2 and a half years, but a proportion of the money is unaccounted for - hopefully the administrator's report may shed some light on what happened to this money.

Newell's pocket?:fishing:

Luton protest

The Directors pockets, more like.

Anyway, we should have got more points on the pitch this season, we didn't, we're going down, I'd expect some stick tomorrow as remember singing "We'll never play you again in 2005."

The idea that the fans enjoyed the time in The Championship and therefore deserve to punished now is a bit of a myth as well - actually, many of us spent the time trying to expose the clearly corrupt Board.

The clubs now in the hands of decent people and the first people we pay every month are HMRC. We don't owe anything to anyone and the new owners won't take us back into administration.

The whole points deduction issue is becoming a bit of a farce, Saints getting points docked this season, Stockport next, HMRC opposing all football CVA's - it needs sorting out. Not saying there shouldn't be points deductions, but no-one seems to know how many points you get docked for what, and when the deductions apply.

Anyway, goodbye and good luck.

So what's the story with Cherry Newby then? Markyst

Actually, it aint that obvious that BU does back these views of AS, GD and BIAS.
I hope they do, but differing 'messages' from those associated with BU does not help, in my opinion.
And I am certainly not advocating 'provocative' nor ' scaremongering' statements. There was nothing on those lines in the statements to which I referred.I believe those statements go a long way to , hopefully, difusing a potentially difficult situation.
Many folk have been wary of bringing their families to this match, partly because word has got round that Brentford fans will goad Luton fans.I was in the Club shop on Wednesday and a chap was clearly reticent about buying a ticket for his young boy because of this.
A 'statesmanlike' comment from BU, even at this late stage, would, in my opinion, be very useful indeed.

How much has the taxpayer been stung for with Luton's clever financial positioning in the last few years? Or havent we lost a penny?

Do me a favour and leave this messageboard if you're trying to sustain an arguement on 2004-2005. You CHEATED your way to the title in 2005 due to your playing budget and I will gladly say that to your face tomorrow.

We have the biggest police bill in the club's history to entertain you cretins tomorrow and I am fuming about it.

We don't owe anything to anyone

So Luton owes the new owners nothing?

Luton protest

Some real nonsense and absolute bile on here re the game. The thread was started by a wind-up, silly posts like that sadly cause a reaction (including from the police) and worry other people - what should be a celebration of promotion by Brentford, pure and simple, gets sidelined in many posters heads. And then all the old (and better forgotten) grudges come out. It's a bit pitiful really isn't it?

And yes, I am a Luton fan. Who registered for this board to add congratulations on a well deserved title. Having read some of the ill informed rubbish about Luton's recent financial 'cheating' I'd like to ask (redundantly, I've had enough of this lark) - if that was 'cheating', what about Brentford's unsustainable £7-8million debt? Not paying your dues there, are you?

Anyhow, my congratulations remain. I look forward to having a peaceful drink with as many celebrating (and non-bitter/obsessed with the past) Bees as I meet. That's actually what most football fans do these days.

All the best, see you in a couple of years no doubt.

And Andy Scott deserves the Manager of the Year award in my opinion, for what that's worth.

Luton protest

Sorry, meant to say: 'However, and reluctantly, having read some of the ill informed rubbish' It only seems like a few of you who know so little about Luton's actual affairs.

Cheers to the rest of you

Luton are far too ugly to have affairs IMO.

Luton protest

Can any of the Luton fans increase our understanding of their plight….who has been 'knocked' as a result of your financial situation over the last few years? How much are we talking about…a few pounds or slightly more...

Have Brentford knocked any creditors? Or have we just about managed to keep going through, principally, the very hard work of a few supporters and the very generous financial assistance of MB...

What is so difficult in answering the financial questions Luton fans?

I'm sorry Geoff but this is absolute nonsense. They are wary due to Luton's hooligan element that is going to cost the club an eyewatering police bill.

It is not nonsense, Mark.
True, the unfortunate reputation of some ( but not all) Luton fans does not help.
But nor do the threats of goading from some BFC fans( who should know better)
You know as well as I do, that such actions might well exacerbate the situation, and I am very disappointed that folk like you, whom I admire and resapect in many other ways, do not try to discourage this, in the same fashion as Andy Scott, Greg Dyke and BIAS.
As a BU board director, your calling of Luton fans as 'cretins' is very ill-advised indeed ...

Luton protest

I thought twice about bringing my son to this game but then I decided that threats of violence have never stopped me going in the past and they shouldn't stop him going now. That has nowt to do with goading, at Bristol City in our relegation season they ripped the sh*t out of us but we just dealt with it and I actually thought fair play to them. However this a big game for Luton and anyone who thinks that there won't be any trouble outside if not inside the ground is barmy. What do I base this one, I base this on being a Brentford fan who has been to many Luton V Brentford games and a fair few QPR v Luton ones. My experience has always been that there is a threat of violence with Luton around and tomorrow is their day to make a final stand. I would be very surprised and pleased if they don't, we're changing our routine and I'm sure we're not alone.

It is not nonsense, Mark.

It is I'm afraid. What I find annoying Geoff is that you are always quick to attack Brentford fans first.

No one is going to take notice of what I say, especially when AS and Greg have said it already. You make it sound as if I want a ruck tomorrow, when nothing could be further from the truth. BU are not here to make statements about supporters behaviour, BIAS and the club are.

Let's talk about this in the press room tomorrow. :)
