New Manager Poll

It's total bollox.

Greg Dyke is out of the UK and doesn't return until next Thursday. He certainly didn't meet with Nicky Forster yesterday for three hours or three minutes or three seconds.
Dear Mr abee,

That is good news . Can we have our mad doggy back please? No, I mean very, very, please. If so I promise to be a good boy and eat all my greens.

Yours faithfully,

V.C. Mazz (aged 45 and a half)

New Manager Poll

wouldn't mind Gary Johnson with Nicky Forster as assistant....in fact, that is my dream team. Please can I have it thank you.

Pretty much perfect. Please abee and co make it happen.

New Manager Poll

i am with stupid. excellent post.
plus Johnson was born in QPR and is fat.
 Probably can't even swim . Plus, there's got to be something suspect about an Englishman who, if England play Latvia, would want Latvia to win :yuck:.

New Manager Poll

,but we are not in the deep doodoos just yet /

!

Aren't we? Two points above the relegation zone; a rookie manager in charge for probably the next two games; no idea whether the next manager will jell with the players.... Seems quite brown and smelly to me!

New Manager Poll

There's a lot of talk on here about needing MA to rescue us from relegation. This isn't the Great Escape season all over again - we have much more time available to us now, a much better quality squad and the division is extremely tight. The bar would be set very low if the only objective is avoiding the drop this term, I would still expect a top half finish. This low level of expectation around GP is one of the reasons why I think this is potentially a very attractive job to somebody like Johnson; immediate improvement should be relatively easy to achieve given the playing strength and financial resources. Instant 'success' is almost guarenteed.

Sorry mate but I think this is incredibly complacent. Hope you're right but fear you are not

If it's a goer, just say nothing before 19.53 and I'll take it as read. Leave the Chronicle to me and thanks again :sorted:.

New Manager Poll

Thanks for that. But it was still quick - doubt either Nicky or he knew it was on the cards when they got up in the morning (or did they, and Scotty??).

He may have been spotted with a director's arm round his shoulder and whispering into his ear in the car park at Dagenham. Or he may not have been.

Can't see it happening. He's going to want to choose his own man, one known to him, and to be honest, I would want him to be able to as well.

New Manager Poll

Gary Johnson. hmmm
On the one hand it's always good to see an ex-bee return (I'll never forget his goals in 1981 away to Oxford and Swindon).
On the other hand he doesn't seem to have looked after himself so well since he left.
Will Lee Frost or Keith Bowen be part of his backroom staff ???

Unforgettable weren't they? As if it were yesterday .

New Manager Poll

Whether it end up Gary Johnson, Martin Allen, Dennis Wise or Uncle Tom Cobbly let's just give the new guy 101% support. It's a new dawn and hopefully a successful one

New Manager Poll

I think a few on here might be dissapointed.. I hear that Sheffield Wednesday are striking first and fast....

I used to wonder if it was the same Gary Johnson but I don't think it is. Is it?

No, it's not Gary Johnson of the Bowen/Johnson/Frost era.

New Manager Poll

Just read Nicky's interview on the OS - seems it's just for tomorrow and Monday. Makes the Warburton appointment even more surprising.

New Manager Poll

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking him, I just think he's over hyped. Bristol City is a big club. I would say that the second tier is their natural habitat and returning them to it is, I reckon, about par with Andy Scott returning us to ours . I'd probably say that out of the suggestions so far he'd be my second choice. But Brentford is a bit unique and takes a bit of understanding. A look at Terry Butcher's record elsewhere suggests that he isn't a bad manager. He just didn't understand Brentford. Martin understands :sorted:.

I don't get the Martin Allen total infatuation. Yes he brought good times but how many ex-Bees return to the club and achieve the same level of success ?
Andy Scott is probably the exception to this rule.
Of course he understood Brentford, but his own personna and attitide took over. He stuck to his guns, guns that won a league and impressed the season after but ran out of bullets.

SmiffyBee awaits the new man with an open mind.
Let's hope the board do too. :owusu: :dj:

New Manager Poll

Wasn't Megson appointed earlier?

I heard it on the radio on th way home from work at 18:00. Talksport were rather annoyed with him as he was kept waiting on the phone for 45 seconds before giving an interview and then hung up in temper (allegedly)!

Good news that they've got someone that we weren't interested in (I assume).

New Manager Poll

Makes the Warburton appointment even more surprising.

Why? He's been brought in to help Nicky Forster. What's the problem with that?

New Manager Poll

Latest odds on Skybet show Wise as 10/11 favourite, Nicky Forster second fav at 5/4 ,Martin Allen 7/2 and Gary Johnson 4/1.

I concur. I'd be a bit wary about throwing Forster into the manager's job right now and I still think he has something to offer the team ON the pitch. This would be a great partnership, on paper :)

Forster seemed under the impression he'd be in charge longer than the two games. I would hope we have Johnson in by Milton Keynes though!

Is that for real?

I'd totally give up if Wise got appointed

I can't believe that anyone on the board would seriously consider Wise for the job. :nono: Unless Greg Dyke's been looking through his old Panini sticker books again?

New Manager Poll

I posted why I couldn't see the board seriously considering Wise a few pages back. And if Allen isn't an option, Wise certainly wouldn't be I'm sure. I wouldn't trust Skybet though. Some of the names mentioned by them are beyond laughable! Now that Megson has the Sheff Wed job, Johnson has to be huge favourite after declaring interest.

New Manager Poll

MA for me ...everyday of the week! u redsssssssss

New Manager Poll

Can one of the 14 people so far in the poll who voted for him explain to me why they think Jim Magilton
would be the best choice for our next manager ?? have i overlooked something?

New Manager Poll

Paulo Souza talked well on Skys football league prog tonight.
He'd be way out of our league though I would have thought?

Makes Scott's brand of football look like 'sexy football' by all acounts! Would not be interested.

Stephen Fry speaks well but he'd make a *hit Manager. Sousa flopped at Raras, got Swansea in the zone without scoring any goals and flopped again at Leicester, so thanks but definitely no thanks

Because he has successfully managed at a higher level than we are at now - got Ipswich to 8th place in the Championship I think. And his teams are considered to play reasonably attractive football. An Ipswich fan at work told me that one of his downfalls was that he was always happy to let 2 goals in as long as Ipswich scored 3. Seems that when Ipswich stopped scoring they lost a few more than he bargained for !

At QPR he was doing OK results wise but was dismissed by a somewhat triggerhappy Board for something unproven and not results related!

On balance I would much rather have Johnson but I don't think Magilton should be dismissed as some form of idiot candidate - he is far from that.

(I didn't vote for him by the way but would far rather have Magilton than Allen)............and ask any Ipswich fan if they made a mistake getting him out and Keane in and see what response you get.

Because he headbutted a Rangers player, so shares our hatred?
