New Manager Poll

Noades did a god job getting us promoted from league 2, dont see why he shouldnt be given another chance.

A nice thought wibs. But I'm not sure he'd be interested in League One at this stage of his career .

New Manager Poll

Covered in post 391 :sorted:.

And that doesn't compare favourably with three defeats in the play-offs. Yeovil are a non-league club and they've been regulars in this division thanks to him. A far better achievement.

Gary Johnson for me every time.

New Manager Poll

I don't get this Gary Johnson fever . He gets talked up in the media but from what I can tell, his achievement over the last twenty years is two promotions with Yeovil. Oh, and he made Bristol City play quite well. And that's about it. Nothing wrong with those achievements but they hardly make him Shankly so why the hype? If he gets the job then fair enough, I'd get behind him but I can see no reason to believe he would take us to the next level, where as I genuinely believe that Martin Allen would A) keep us up this season, B) put us in with a great shout next season and at least go very close, but if no cigar then C) stand a great chance of getting us to the Championship the season after. I can't think of anyone I'd have anywhere near as much confidence in. Martin Allen for me is so obvious .

i am with stupid. excellent post.
plus Johnson was born in QPR and is fat.
salford bee is 15 years old or something so his views can be discounted immediately.
cannot wait for the first MARTINS UPDATE.
brentford are back.
:moo:

New Manager Poll

Someone posted on here last week that Gary Johnson is a Fulham fan, but we'll overlook that.

He has comprehensive knowledge of Division One and a good eye for players, and his teams generally develop a mental toughness and play decent football.
Dennis Wise doesn't know this division and he's a ****. Martin Allen's managerial CV does not compare favourably to Gary Johnson's.

My anxiety about Gary Johnson is that he's been described on occasion as a bit of bully. A few months back he went public saying he doubted his Peterborough side had the toughness to meet the challenge, he sort of dared them to prove them wrong. They didn't, he got fired (okay, temperamental owner may not have backed him), Darren Ferguson has gone back there and they've started winning again.
Johnson's not the messiah, but he's my first choice along with Keith Hill, who I can't see us extracting from Rochdale.
I trust Gary Johnson's judgement of players at this level, so he can resolve your disputes about Woodman/Dickson/Grabban, etc.

Nothing against Martin Allen, but it's the past, and his style does not sit comfortably with our board. I just don't see it happening.

Its looking good. I think I now have a job ! Whhooppee

New Manager Poll

I think you'll find he was free and available. He also worked with Ose Aibangee, who I'm given to understand has a close relationship with MB...

Thanks for that. But it was still quick - doubt either Nicky or he knew it was on the cards when they got up in the morning (or did they, and Scotty??)..............so, get rid of AS/TB, appoint Nicky, phone and call Warburton in and appoint him. Just seems a fair day's work - while negotiating settlements with Scott at the same time.

But the Ose Aibangee angle might be a clue.

New Manager Poll

Bit too heavy on the fertiliser for my liking...

New Manager Poll

Latest Odds:

Dennis Wise 10/11
Nicky Forster 5/4
Martin Allen 7/2
Gary Johnson 4/1

If he does come back it brings new meaning to Scott's press-conference at Colchester and enhances what he was saying. If this is the case it shows the type of man he is.

Sorry, it was a response to SmiffyBee and our "MA signs for B&Q" trail...

What utter Balls, you have a real problem with MA and I dont know why, I have spent the last couple of seasons disliking the Scott product but have never denigrated him.

You may not want him back and neither will many others, equally a significant number would like him to return at the end of the day all I want is my football club back and if that means we get Dennis Wise I will put up with it providing he restored some fun.

New Manager Poll

I've never seen trolling on Twitter before.

How immature

New Manager Poll

There's a lot of talk on here about needing MA to rescue us from relegation. This isn't the Great Escape season all over again - we have much more time available to us now, a much better quality squad and the division is extremely tight. The bar would be set very low if the only objective is avoiding the drop this term, I would still expect a top half finish. This low level of expectation around GP is one of the reasons why I think this is potentially a very attractive job to somebody like Johnson; immediate improvement should be relatively easy to achieve given the playing strength and financial resources. Instant 'success' is almost guarenteed.

New Manager Poll

not sure on MA tbh as been out for a long time and wasnt the finished article when he was here. But he has been down to GP enough to know who is good enough and who is not and will be able to call players like KOC and KO for input.

rather GJ by far though as i dont see MA long term and being succesful in such way as wining something not a cup run thats not succesful, thats good times!

GJ has the potential to tkae us up and progress from there so give GJ a 2 1/2 year contract!

Wow, Salford, you really do have it in for MA!!!! Yet you can't come up with any quotes whereas there are many that AS has made publically about his own players, MA, M Wright (I don't like him either - is he on the poll?), & has even been quite 'macho' in his comments about Butcher who he really helped out with players like Thorpe & Mackie (just supposition given the fact that they were both ex-Orient. But we all like a bit of supposition, I guess>?).

I would be quite happy with either GJ or MA, but whoever comes here faces a rough ride with such an unbalanced squad. If it's Wise, or even M Wright (grrrr), we should give him our full support.

Interested in the Warburton appointment too - I would hazard a guess, as did a previous poster, that he was earmarked a role in the youth set-up by Osei but that would truly be suppositon.

New Manager Poll

we must not miss this opportunity ,no compensation, come on board of directors look at the poll, get GJ now.

New Manager Poll

As an addendum to the above post, I will be very disappointed if it takes several weeks to make the new appointment. We should know exactly who is available & interested & rated right now. If it's NF, then fair enough, but I would be very worried about him in our current plight. I like him a lot & would be very happy to see him as assistant to either MA, GJ or any other experienced manager we appoint, but it's a huge ask for someone with such limited experience.

I don't want another Scott Fitz fiasco which probably hastened our demise.

New Manager Poll

i was going to ask who is the actual organ grinder at the moment? i see nicky had a three hour meeting with greg dyke. is it he who ultimately decided Scott had to go and is it he who will decide who will get the full-time gig? all the news reports just quote "the club" etc. or, as matthew benham has put in so much wonga, does he get the last say?

I'm reading between the lines and if he does become our manager then it all falls into place.

What would Forster have to do as caretaker to get the job full-time in peoples opinions?

I think he'd have to do a very good job, win most of the games and get the boys playing decent passing football

however

I still think GJ should be given the job because he's proven at this level and above. With MB's cash injections, we don't want to mess it up.

He's got a good record at bringing non league players up too.

Well I can't find it, then again for the life of me I can't figure out how that Twitty thing works. If you're not on a wind up, any chance of posting a link?

One bloke who hasn't managed a club in charge of another who hasn't - why ?
brighton number 2 and care taker knows lower div insideout scouting for suf united only talked to him a few weeks ago ,but if MA got the job i would be happy.

New Manager Poll

Yeah just figured out that you need to sign in to see what MA (nager) says . My guess is that (sadly) he's referring to something else. But we'll see :sorted:.

:banghead: and they left you in charge of the GPG for a few hours  What ever next? NB in the directors box? God help us all......

New Manager Poll

Thanks, "The Chronicle understand..." NF must have had a very busy day, what with his meeting with the Chief Executive, and all.

It's total bollox.

Greg Dyke is out of the UK and doesn't return until next Thursday. He certainly didn't meet with Nicky Forster yesterday for three hours or three minutes or three seconds.

New Manager Poll

wouldn't mind Gary Johnson with Nicky Forster as assistant....in fact, that is my dream team. Please can I have it thank you.
