Hope this gives him the jolt he needs.

If so he will probably have a long career elsewhere. Maybe just a few miles up the M1 perhaps?

the MK Donkeys?............................. rofl

he'll need a good 'wack' to keep that gas guzzler running..............................

Thanks for your efforts Nels, Good luck in the future.

The 20 plus clean sheets a couple of years back suggest you've got it in you to get a decent club next season.

Shame things tourned sour at the end though, Right time to move on.

One Stuart Nelson

Well done Brentford on getting rid of this idiot:sorted:

I have decided to purchase a season ticket on the back of hearing this good news as I will be seeing no more of this clown at GP.

It will also mean not having to listen to the morons in Brook Road who think Nelson is some kind of god.

   :alcoholic :alcoholic :jester: :hat: :bound:

One Stuart Nelson

Have you been playing with your crystal balls?

It wouldn't be any disaster to lose Nelson as long as he was replaced with someone better, and that certainly isn't Abbey in the long-term. Abbey's whole career has been built on making a good impression when he first joins a club and then falling away badly the following season.

If he signs next season, we'll all be demanding a new keeper by christmas, be warned.

Have another look and let us know which quality keeper is gonna sign on the dotted line theres a good chap ;)

One Stuart Nelson

Personally think its great that Nellie is moving on out! Jekyll & Hyde character as a goalkeeper, when good - very good, when average or below - awful.

His positioning for free kicks is woeful and that habit of wandering up to the half-way line used to do my head in!!

Hope he finds a club but what he really needs is a good strong goalkeeping coach (who can tell him where he's going wrong) if he's not going to be hanging around the lower divisions all his career.

I agree, Nelson at least always showed passion, even if he was letting in a few too many goals, but then the defence wasn't quite as good as the 05/06 season either was it

One Stuart Nelson

Crap decision in my view. The bloke has shown hes a decent keeper by league one standards. We are now in fecking league 2. So who are we going to get whos better?

In all honesty the bloke probably decided against staying himself with all the recent abuse and the fact we are now league 2. My guess is he'll be picked up by a decent league one / struggling championship side.

One Stuart Nelson

IMHO

1) Nelson will end up as first choice at a club higher up the ladder than Brentford next season and

2) Our keeper won't be as good.

Be wary of what you wish for........

Love him or hate him he was still a decent keeper and would be good at league two level. Yes he made blunders but he also made some great saves and given how sh*t the defence was last season he didn't too that badly.

Wonder who were going to get as new keeper, Masters isn't experienced enough to be first choice at the moment.

One Stuart Nelson

If as has been alluded to (in one or more posts on here) he was a disruptive influence in the dressing room then we are better off without him.

Just hope whoever we bring in is a steady keeper and not prone to wandering :fishing:

He was actually a very good keeper those 2 seasons, winning much praise from opposition fans. He won us a lot more points then he cost us, especially with Allen's traditional grab a goal and defend like crazy approach.

One Stuart Nelson

We have been lucky to have good keepers down at GP over the years so I will reserve judgement on this decision until I see who will be replacing him

One Stuart Nelson

Sorry to see him go. I know he's a king f*ckwit but it wouldn't suprise me if he went on to better things.

Now that Abbey has gone as well, with TB's previous experience, my worry is that we end up with a "Scottish" keeper. Other than the excellent Chic Brodie, this fine breed are invariably cursed with "monumental cock-up syndrome"..... enough to make Nelson look like Gordon Banks.

And Masters clearly isn't ready yet to take the step up.

im not sure about that. but thats gone now and so has he thankfully

Maybe it was his decision and not the clubs?? From what I've heard, TB liked him.

I always thought he was a good goalie for the league we were in.

All the best Nellie. I for one will be sad to see you go.

At least when he played he had passion for Brentford .. unlike most of the crap that turned out for us this season ...

Lets see who our new number will be now Nathan Abbey is leaving ... then compare Nelson to him

I really cant believe some of the hatred towards him on here .. ok his kicking was dodgy and he wound up some away fans and he made the occasional mistake .. but he has been vilified for wandering up the pitch during the game to having the nerve to drive a Range Rover Sport on a League One salary!

Badgoalie had a good game in the play off first leg, mad how Martin gives him a game!

Heard that Nelson approached the mongs but was told to go away.

Won't stop at least one of our current team joining him though!

All good!

The 20 plus clean sheets a couple of years back.

Exactly, just like Tillen, Brooker, Framps and to an extent KOC, looked good in a good team and awful when not bailed out by the likes of Turner and Sodje.

Take off your rose tinted glasses and see the misplaced goal kicks, dreadful positioning and inability to keep hold of a ball for what they are.

Always thought hes pretty average personally, some good points and bad. Apparently hes quite highly thought of within the game so will get fixed up easily enough i guess.
Some of the venom on here is quite recent after some incident or other outside GP i think. Dunno what happened but Banana and a few others were certainly "upset" for a day or two

roll up roll up

we would be in the premier league by now if it wasn't for Bobo. 15 points a season he costs us with his juggling act. FACT  :sorted:

We have had a lot of average/poor keepers over the years. The last quality keeper was McKellar and that was nearly 25 years ago. We have had some good quality central defenders over the years and some excellent centreback partnerships which have probably glossed over the performance of our keepers. I'd settle for a keeper next season who was solid and reliable which would be a step forward from the last few seasons.

sad to say..when we end up with someone like Chris Day....Nelson will be missed big style !

Short memories some people I can think of a few and Paul Smith was a class act just a few short years ago!!

I remember the flying pig had one amazing season where he pretty much stopped everything (and then someone had the bright idea of putting him on a diet...)
Benstead wasn't too bad although went awol at times, while Philips was a good shot stopper.

Wasn't McKellar Scottish - one of the best Bees keepers I can recall? He certainly played for some Scottish clubs - Hibs, Killie, Dunfermline and was signed by Glasgow Rangers at one point.

Scotland's had some poor keepers, although in fact until the 50s they were generally considered to be almost as good as English ones, but it's been blown out of all proportion by two factors:

1) Celtic's Frank Haffey's shocking performance in the 9-3 drubbing by England (what's the time? Haffey past nine)

2) The fact that for years most clips one saw on TV of Scottish games were goals, and goals often come after a mistake by a keeper or defender.

See ya Mittens. Don't let the door hit your a*se on the way out of Griffin Park.

Hopefully (and I genuinely mean this) he'll at least get a trial with Clacton Athletic or some such outfit before he faces the inevitable and becomes a Deputy Shift Supervisor at Burgerking.

Nelson - collect your size 52 red brogues, square-wheeled car and 'amusing' rotating bow tie and clear off.

Nelson would have done a fine job in League Two... seeing as he pretty much did a fine job in League One

Watch when we get a pretty mediocre keeper next year, or have to make do with Clark Masters, who was touted as the next best thing by loads on here...

Wasn't Brentford's greatest ever goalkeeper - Joe Crozier - Scottish?

if he makes ridiculous mistakes in div 1, i don't see how he would not do so a division lower! i can see your arguement if you were referring to an outfield player, but not Bobo*.

Yes, indeed thanks for the memories Mittens.lol The aimless flapping arms thing during any corner, the misdirected boots up field into touch, the failure to direct any defensive wall, the comedy errors that costs us points after points..... stop it, you're kiling me.

Anyway, back to reality: "Sorry Nelson, but I don't want a Big Issue today mate" :nono: (walking by Waterloo Station, November 2007).

Can you please re-submit this message for everyone who makes a typing mistake. I'd guess that's about 80/90% of posts.

I would have another guess Larry...... :)

Would suggest it is lower than your stated guess.
