Southgate picked players from Burnley, Crystal Palace, Villa, Southampton, Everton Leeds and West Brom in the last couple squads.

Of all those teams only Palace finished above us (and by only 2 points).

Goes to show players can be selected on merit regardless of their club and Henry certainly deserves a call up after the season he’s had.

Gutted for Rico but on a selfish note, long may people underate him. Pretty sure the England squad is selected on face fit rather than talent. Harry Maguire must be noshing the whole staff.

Fuming for Rico not being selected and 5 right back being selected. 2 are past there best and one has only played 13 times in 18 months.
Clearly Southgate only watches certain players and clubs. Would love to know what Mitchell done wrong at the last international break to get dropped for a non left back. Wasn't this a chance to see our younger players that may make the plane in November. Walker & Tripper are not the future and we already know what they bring. 27 players and we haven't got one left back in the squad.

I'm as annoyed as everyone about Rico but, even though he is right footed, James Justin is a left back. He's played most of his career as a right footed left back (like Dennis Irwin was) but Justin and Trippier have hardly played lately though and Rico should be ahead of them both.

Missing a trick here. Rico's recovery pace would be a massive blessing for England, as it would lessen the risk of dropping Kyle Walker and playing James or Arnold at right back. Hard to see a good reason for not picking him in fact.
