Rico Henry

Rico Henry

I don't see how us discussing it or asking for a rough estimate puts pressure on him or makes him a "poor lad"

Saying we don't expect to see him for another 6-7 weeks minimum and then he pops up a week or two early is a good way to manage it. If he doesn't make that timescale it is no more saddening to us then expecting him back any day and waiting 6 weeks to be told we are still managing his return.
Rico was possibly in line for an England call up and probably on a big money move before the injury. Thomas Frank was
answering the question about his return all the time until he cut that question off. No doubt the players read that they are due
/ know they’re play in a bdf or reserve game for this not to happen along with speculation must be a real blow. Thankfully unlike in the past we are not rushing people back that end their career. I think it’s more upsetting to him at the end of the day when he just wants to play in his prime .

The RB loan doesn't need to be a superstar and cost million but somebody who is better than we have currently. Same with the LB if Rico is out for the season.
There is no point imo loaning in a RB when we have mads and svdb and Ajer...we should have loaned in a left back as we have no one to play whose left footed as we don't seem to want to play Meghoma yet

Except Ajer is constantly injured and neither of the others are more than OK in that position.

It's better than LB where we don't even have a player to cover. LB just seems to be more specialised due to the dearth of left footers

Rico Henry

As much as we're disappointed and frustrated, imagine how Rico feels.
Totally agree, he must be devastated and frustrated. (friend of a friend) Low key whisper is that the medical dept have failed him somewhat. My question back to the whisperer was; how did they? Responded; he played a high intensity game against the B team for 45mins which would suggest he was three BCD games away, before his return to the first team, that would have been this weekend. He came out of that 45min game all good but, apparenely two days after during training, he was overtrained due to the lack of communication between the medical staff. Apparently, one staff didn't know Rico had a game two days prior, however there was a setback. The whisperer wouldn't give me any details on what the setback was, but said it has put back Rico at least month (Mid December) I might get a b***ocking putting this out there, hopefully the whisperer won't read it. Then agian it might be all BS:sneakoff:

I think it's worth playing Meghoma as LB/LWB when we play three CBs. We have cover at RB as you say.

With injuries like Rico has had who can tell if he’s going to get any setbacks going forward. Why does everyone want constant updates only putting pressure on the poor lad. When he’s back he’ll be on the pitch in meantime get behind the boys in the team. No point paying out £££ all the time Same for Hickey JDS .

That is totally unforgivable if true. Rico's return is vital to the teams improvement and therefore every single detail about his road to recovery should have been planned and executed with the utmost care and attention. The medical teams have already been under intense scrutiny over the past months due to the number and nature of injuries sustained...

Maybe we are concerned, want Rico back, can see his value to us & enjoy him playing in Red & white again.

I don't think it's pressure, more excitement and hope to see one of our best ever players return to full fitness and recapture his sparkling form.

Well that's why I'm keen to know.

Now, our record signing forward better hit the ground running or else there will be trouble ?

There’s nothing wrong with fans wanting regular/weekly updates on Rico, especially as we are constantly being told he is very close to proper full on training.
With the current LB situation as it, fans are wondering when there’s light at the end of tunnel.
If it doesn’t interest you, don’t read or listen to any updates that are communicated ??‍♂️

This wouldnt surpise me, as it has all gone quiet since he played those 45 mins and we have had 0 update. Who is running the medical department at the moment? Do we have a replacement in place?

Rico Henry

“How could it possibly be worse” would be the midfield and forwards are as ineffective as they were on Monday, we win zero challenges, can’t keep possession, create virtually no chances and the back four are over run for virtually the whole game.

Mads R isn’t the answer at right back but they had 26 shots on goal and a large percentage from outside of the box, the loss on Monday is not purely down to the full backs selected. I thought VDB did well.

Norgaard alongside Janelt is a bigger issue for me at the moment, neither seem to play as well when they both start in a three man midfield.

Having 32% possession says we were over run and giving away only 10 fouls all game and only three in midfield suggests we weren’t competitive or combative enough in the middle of the park and why our defence was under siege all game.

I agree in hindsight we should have looked to acquire cover for Hickey and Rico in the summer but injury wise it appears we got it horribly wrong with return dates.
I’d also have hoped that between Ajer, Mads R, Mee, VDB and now Megahoma we’d have sufficient cover but obviously not.

My statement was regarding how could it be worse - specifically at full back with the performances of Mads R and Sepp slightly less so.

Absolutely we have a big problem in midfield that needed a new body to get amongst Norgaard and Janelt, but we didn't buy one.

Who did we rush back and end their career. ?

He had a BCD game some weeks ago (30 mins or so?) and things have gone a bit quiet since, is he still in training or not?

Utter bollox. Who and when did we rush a player back and end their career?
It's a serious allegation so either withdraw it or justify it !!!

Rico Henry

Who did we rush back and end their career. ?
Talking about long a time ago and not necessarily Brentford but have seen players rushed back when not ready. Richard Cadette springs to mind. Saying these days we seem a lot more careful which is a very good thing and the club to be applauded for their care of players and their welfare.

I agree with your statement on midfield, but I also believe Maghoma and Trevitt (as well as Yarmoliuk) can play a role. Not sure Thomas does, though!

That’s complete rubbish.

If you watched the SW cup game you can see he has bags of potential but is nowhere near ready for first epl action.

Rico Henry

I did think our victory lap for Giles at the end of the Summer window was premature. Cajuste fell through and we left it at that.

Did you watch the ipswich game?

The bloke would be way, way, way, way, way, way way behind all our midfield.

We were not going to over pay for the next FTT

Rico Henry

Yes it won't have been. But why would it have been a problem?
He’s was in the last year of his contract and I expect Spurs wanted him gone, so may’ve been engaged with potential buyers and not looking to a loan, even if a sale never materialised. I'm not sure we had the time between identifying Henry’s recovery was stalling and then trying to negotiate Spurs into a cut-price loan. It’s all a bit academic now but they did list him in their PL squad.

Rico Henry

Well, that's a concern in it's self. We were moments away from signing Cajuste!!

Don’t be concerned, we saw him as one for the future and they kept upping the price until we walked away.

Be pleased we know what we are doing and only sign players to our own valuation, certainly don’t think of it as a DoF failure

Cadette played another 150 games for other sides after Brentford

Rico Henry

So we have a rumour that hes now out till December.

FFS.

If the above is true it really calls into question the medical dept.
Why?
Would you blame the medical dept for his original injury?

Rico Henry

The rumour is entirely correct.

The medical department has just had new leadership, so perhaps give him a chance eh?

Thanks.

As for the bit in bold, i assume the set back is under the new leadership then?

If so they aren't off to a good start are they................................
