Rico Henry

Rico Henry

I only watched the first half of the stream of the U21 game last night but would be interested to get the view of those who attended the game. It appeared to me that his lightening pace was not evident. On one recovery run he almost seemed to be treading water trying match the SW player. Maybe he was playing well within himself? I was well into a bottle of red by then so maybe it was me :).
To me it seemed like him and Jensen were playing a supporting role to the other players and hanging back a bit, He caught up to one of their attackers in seconds when they had a 10 yard start, I'm sure he's fine!

Rico Henry

A madness to say but he doesn't get his place back unless KLP either gets injured or changes position! But to answer your q re this weekend, probably a late sub appearance you'd think
It's crazy to think Rico's in that position after being nailed on to start before his injury but it's true imo,the landscape has changed since he's been out for so long.

It goes to show how random a players career can be and why i don't begrudge them taking opportunties to maximise their income if they have the chance.

One thing that would be a nice benefit to starting Rico is that we would finally have another real sub option up front. Even if KLP to Rico is a small downgrade in quality, it may be worth it to start Rico just to have that tactical flexibility.

Very good point, you could even try KLP in Schade's position for a game and have Schade off the bench

Rico Henry

I'm guessing he won't be fully back to his max until post summer, no Ibiza raves for Rico methinks.

Rico Henry

Welcome back Rico. Did fine But what a problem we’re going to have next season.

That'l be a great problem to have. If we're going to make the top six we'll need two great players for every position unless we're incredibly lucky with injuries and suspensions.

Rico Henry

Heresy to say it, but even with Rico fully fit for me KLP is the best left back at the club. He offers so much more going forward.

Rico Henry

Henry was clearly very rusty – which was only to be expected given the intensity of the game when he was introduced – but I was impressed by his closeness to any of their players with the ball. He’s clearly not lost the confidence in his defending abilities.

As long as he continues to get minutes in games for the rest of the season, I’m sure we’ll have our Rico back for next.

Yep he is probably a better recovery defender than KLP but KLP offers more as an attacking threat - nice problem to have next season though.

Rico Henry

Rico needs a full pre season and see where he is at after that. Definitely well off 100% at the moment but after nearly 2 seasons out that is understandable. What will be encouraging next season is that we have strong options for the LB and won't need to overplay anyone and hopefully manage their minutes through the season. Before his injury Rico was rarely subbed so ended up playing 90mins week in week out and that needs to change if he is going to continue being in the squad.

Rico Henry

Not under ideal circumstances, but seeing Rico come through that 45 minutes as well as he did was the cherry on the icing on the cake from tonight's performance!!! ?
Also made me feel really calm at our corners, knowing that nobody would be able to beat him for pace in a counter attack.

Rico Henry

I don’t care how rusty he is (and I thought he looked sharper today vs previous sub appearances), just having our no.3 back on the pitch is such a joy. Crazy to think he made his debut for us over 7 years ago now, an integral part of our squad throughout our rise

Rico Henry

Can't believe how Forest missed a trick to test him more.

Strange tactics indeed. KLP had a tough first half. Thought Forest would target Rico in the same way. They didn't and therefore Rico had an extremely comfortable second half. Just what he needed really. A nice kick about with the lads.

Rico Henry

Didn't really notice him in the second half which was a good thing. He could do with playing the next 4/5 games to build on his fitness but KLP doesn't really deserve to be dropped but not sure Rico would have been done in the first half like KLP was

Rico Henry

Thought he started slightly edgy but about half way through the second half seemed to start trusting himself again and finished strongly. Great to have him back.
Exactly this. After the first 10 mins or so he started to settle. There's a reason Forest stopped targeting that side. Defensively he's excellent and as he gets sharper we'll see him get forward more. A mature performance

Rico Henry

A steady second half from Rico.
KLP also did alright in the first. The booking for KLP possibly made up TF's mind at half time (imo) to make the switch.
A nice squad situation going forward.
360+ minutes to go.
COYB's.

Rico Henry

Still doesn't look match-ready yet, as if he needs some training focused on getting his tricks/counters back into his muscle memory. I guess his training so far, after regaining fitness, has been principally about getting his (cricketing term) loads up and basic positioning.

Rico Henry

Did nothing particularly wrong but a full preseason will be hugely beneficial and hopefully we see him as good as before his injury

I love Rico and hope he gets match fit after a good pre-season. But…

He did a lot wrong. Misplaced passes, poor decisions, caught in dribble. Seriously off the pace of the game.

Im NOT saying that is Rico Henry, but it is who he was today.

Wtf?

Rico Henry

I love Rico but seriously ? He’s nowhere near what we expect of someone with that pedigree …hopefully he’ll get it back but there’s a good chance he won’t ? kayode is light years ahead at the moment and when he went off we were a lesser team…and that’s his important kayode is now

Have to disagree - did ok without being his excellent pre injury self.

I didn’t see that. In fact I thought he would have done much better against Traore than KLP who ,though he has had a great season , really struggled today. Henry is a genuine defender and has the pace to match the like of Traore.

Rico Henry

There was a couple of occasions where he showed his speed hasn't gone, when he chased back and got ahead of his man.

What’s Kayode got to do with Henry? They aren’t in competition with each other, they play on different sides. Ajer was Kayode’s sub and looked sluggish, nothing to do with Rico

Rico Henry

It feels to me , as with several players , he just needs a rest and a pre season. Then we and the club can see if he’s the old Rico or not.
