Apparently Ryan Dickson is a keen supporter of Party Kenethlegek Kernow and wishes to be known as Cornish and not British, so there were 2.

Good on Ryan. Kernow independance. Lucky I have a passport and work permit for living in his country, even after 20 years I am still a foreigner to the Cornish. Love the place tho`. :D

The Marcus Bean thread

No i know why Dickson looked a little pasty.

The Marcus Bean thread

:nono: I believe when asked to sing a song at The Griffin after the Darlo game, he sang "oooh ahhh it's Ambrosia". A blatant knod towards English and Devon supremacy.

The Marcus Bean thread

Mr Bean not even in the squad this eve. Back on Sat ?

The Marcus Bean thread

I'd like to see Marcus back in the team in place of David Hunt. Hunt has played well, but I think Marcus and Kev are a better combination. I'd have Kev anchoring midfield with Beanie getting into more advanced positions. I think this would be particularly useful in home matches when trying to break down opposition defences. If we were behind then I'd bring on Hunt late in the game together with Karleigh Osborne in central defence to try a more aerial route.

The Marcus Bean thread

We benefit with Bean from corners and freekicks as he almsot scored on Tuesday with a header plus it allows Kevin to sit and Bean get forward.
Bean & Kev is best partnership i feel any other partnership doesnt work or one of the two arent as good.
Bean to start tomorrow PLEASE

Spot on. Hunt will only ever hook the ball on. Prob a place for that against some teams but we are going to need to hang on to the ball Saturday and drop the long ball stuff we played against Oldham.

We (sometimes) benefit from Hunts long throws

The Marcus Bean thread

Yeah and thats it.... bit like Beckham.
But Kev doesnt play as good with Hunt then when eh does with Bean Machine.

2 goals from all his throws WOW

The Marcus Bean thread

Yeah and Beckham wouldn't get in our side would he.

In fairness though, one of the things I think that we miss is Bean's ability to run with the ball. We seemed to win a lot more free kicks last season as Bean is difficult to knock of the ball.

:imwith:

Also, with Cort able to win ball and bring other into play, it's essential that we can get players around him. Bean can do this - I'm not sure Hunt or Kev can.

The Marcus Bean thread

Bean's our best player and we need him back ASAP. I like Hunt like his work ethic, but he's a squad player IMO.

The Marcus Bean thread

.................if he is still making the bench,I assume he must be fit...........why is he not being played???...........today looked to be his type of game

The Marcus Bean thread

There was a rumour going round at yesterday's game that Bean and Scott have had a fullout and although he's now fit that's why he's not playing,i hope this is not the case and just a rumour.

The Marcus Bean thread

hopefully it's as accurate as the "dickson not playing cos we've sold him" one that went round last week

The Marcus Bean thread

I think now that we have lost a league game Bean will play.
He has to play simple as that.

The Marcus Bean thread

I doubt if he'd be on the bench if the above was the case.I was hoping to see Bean in he second half.I hope Andy tells us why hes being omitted

The Marcus Bean thread

The excellent form of KOC and Hunt have made it difficult for Bean to get back in the team in the centre of a 4-man midfield. Admittedly both are more defensively minded than Marcus but we are looking a very solid unit as a result.

Where we are lacking is the inspiration to open up defences and then get midfielders into the box to support Corts knock-downs or the crosses from the flanks. IMHO the form of Weston and Taylor is not consistent enough, to warrant a regular starting place although both could provide excellent impact as subs.

Bean is a quality player and must be capable of playing in a slightly wider role. His aerial presence is very useful at set plays and his tackling ability would also help his full back.

Christ no.

So we have a winger in wood already. We go out and buy 3 new wingers in taylor, weston and saunders and then stick a CM on the wing instead????

I agree that KO amd Hunt are solid but it is only a matter of time before Bean gets his chance and it is up to him to take it. I agree he would add a new dmension to the team but the overall problem is the lack of firepower.

You are assuming that Bean is limited to playing CM. I suggest that if AS is reluctant to break up the KOC-Hunt partnership then perhaps Bean could offer more to the team than one out of of Saunders, Weston or Taylor. Even more competition for midfield when Dickson returns allowing Wood to play in his more natural role.

I share that assumption TBH. He's a box to box central midfield player, is able to retain the ball better than Hunt, which gives the front players more time to find space. He will also wins more freekicks in the oppo's half. Thats what we've been missing and his talent in these area's would be wasted in any other position.

It wasn't last season, players were dropped eve if we'd won easily.

I do think Scott does favour Hunt a bit, because he's known him for a long time.

Why are you being such a **** at the moment?

The Marcus Bean thread

Why are you being such a **** at the moment?

I'm expressing two opinions. One is that Cort shouldn't be playing, and one is Bean should be in the first team.

I'm not discouraged by our start at all, from what i've seen of this league, I think we'll be midtable, which is fine by me when you consider how strong the league is.

I just think we are lacking in two areas, one is clearly the striking situation, which is being ruined by Cort Imo, and the other is I think we get over run in midfield with out Bean.

If you look at my first post on the Charlton report, it is largely postive and two changes need to be made (and that Wood is not a left back but thats not his nor anyone else fault its something we have to perserve with at the moment), I just want to see our best players being picked and Marcus as I have stated on here is our best player.

The Marcus Bean thread

Opinions are one thing. Suggesting the manager picks a player who doesn't try and another because he's his mate is a bit different

From the two games i've seen Cort, has failed to chase after balls, he could have made far too many times for my liking. If I'm honest I think he was a panic signing as we got a great offer for Elder and then Strevens got injured. Andy was left with no choice and as a result has continued to pick him because he believes we need a target man. I would be suprised if Andy is happy with him in all honesty.

As for Hunt, I like that he works hard, and I think Andy likes that too, but I think maybe that blinds his judgement on him and that is why he's continued to pick him ahead of Bean.

What i'm suggesting is that maybe his judgement is a little impaired on these two options, and I personally wouldn't pick them in my team (well I'd pick Hunt but only if one of O'Connor and Bean were unavailable). This does not imply that I have any issues with what Andy is trying to do or the job he has done so far. I was very impressed with the way we tried to attack a very good Charlton side, and his record on signings with very few exceptations has been excellent.

However I think he has got a couple of things wrong here. With Cort, I feel he's been unlucky with injuries, so its forced his hand a little, as for Hunt, I have a horrible feeling that he sees him as first choice ahead of Bean and O'Connor (partly because I get the feeling that Hunt is an absolute first rate proffesional and as Andy respects that/wants that from other players he looks a little favourable on him, it happens with every manager at some point in their career e.g. Benetiz with Lucas for example) and I fear that could cost us, as Bean and O'Connor are such a strong partnership.

Everyone makes mistakes and Andy has made very very few, but that doesn't mean, they can't be pointed out, or that he can't make them. That being said I have full faith that Andy is the perfect man for the job both for his abilites as a manager, his vision and his loyalty to Brentford Football Club.

Nice backtracking

It's not back tracking, I merely expanded my answer, as I saw how some of my view might be coming across to others. Have you been waiting for my answer all night ;) I would have stopped watching my film had I known!

I still don't think Cort should be in the side, which I stated in that, and I still don't think Hunt should be ahead of Bean, which I stated in that post, so it's not really back tracking.

I also didn't resort to calling anybody a **** in any of my posts, as I prefer to get to know people before they call me a **** or I call them one!

The Marcus Bean thread

No I watched a film inbetween, obviously a shorter one. You did backtrack as your earlier post suggested Hunt was only picked as he was Scott's mate which is ridiculously over the top. At least you took the time to explain further unlike the majority of reactionary nonsense being spouted after our first league defeat

The Marcus Bean thread

you want to ruin his confedence even more:eek::eek: he's a good player, he will come good. he has this energy you can see it in him, once he scores your see it even more! just remember my DJ thread;)

Why Bean Machine did not make an apperance again I dont know.
Maybe fallen out with AS?
Because Bean would be one of the first names in the first eleven if i was AS.
He was a vital part in us becoming promoted and as champions and Hunt has been off mark the last two matched running around like a headless chicken

The Marcus Bean thread

ever since Hunt came into the team our performances have dropped, he is a decent squad player but should not be playing infront of Bean and Kev, he doesn't bring enough to the team in my opinion

The Marcus Bean thread

Did Bean mock Andy's lilac v neck?
I can't understand why he's not been on the pitch when fit.

Bean is a Championship level player and should always be in he team, I can only assume he's not fully fit ?

Errr no.

I am assuming that the reason you go out and sign 3 wingers including two we have paid decent money for is because you intend to play them on..... the wing?

When Bennett comes back are you going to suggest that he plays on the other wing as wilson has done really well at CB?

I agree, he will get and then take his chance. We all ask for strength in depth, what happens when you get that is decent players sitting on the bench. We can not have it both ways.

KO spent the beginning of last season on the bench and I remember similar discussions around whether AS had an issue with him when they were playing together. Kev got his chance and took it, it is what all the players have to do.

I am in agreement with those that say Cort should be dropped, he has had a pretty good chance and has not taken it IMO and his misses on saturday show why he has managed about 2 league goals in 3 seasons. Give Kabba and Mac a start, Kabba has a years contract so let us see if he has anything to offer.

The Marcus Bean thread

let me correct you

I am in agreement with those that say Cort should be dropped, he has had a pretty good chance and has not taken it IMO and his misses on saturday show why he has managed about 20 league games in 3 seasons.

you missed out that up until June 07 he played 78 games, he was sub(16) times but scored 31 goals for Wolves, he then played about 15 games for 2 relegated teams Leicester and Norwich in 2 seasons:shrug:

I'm not sure Bean is a championship level player, he didn't set the world alight at QPR or Blackpool, he will probably do a good job in league one and he was obviously one of our best players in a fairly poor league two last season,

I think some people go a bit over the top one way or the other over certain players, i remember at the start of last season a lot of people and i include myself didn't think Bean looked decent enough but we were proved spectacurlarly wrong but on the other hand i don't think he is the world beater some fans on here think he is, just a very solid lower league defensive midfielder,

it's possible that Scott thinks Hunt can offer more in games in terms of his long throw ins and free kicks which he has proved to be pretty effective at, two attributes that Bean doesn't have, although Hunt did look a bit over run against Charlton they are one of the best teams in the division,

Bean is arguably a better all round midfield option than Hunt but i think Scott is just weighing up his options and using the squad, wouldn't be surprised to see Bean back in the side soon but i think neither Bean or Hunt will adequately give us enough creativity from the middle as we already have kevin o connor as the holding midfielder

will be interesting to see what Scott decides to do with the central midfield for the rest of the season

Hunt and Kev gave Charlton too much room. Give Bean a chance he deserves after some fantastic performances last season.

Don't be so sensible............

Bean went from being ridiculed and booed by certain parts of the crowd early doors last season to the best midfielder seen in a Bees shirt. IMHO, he is a hard working, intelligent footballer who covers an awful lot of ground and plays to his strengths most of the time.

I don't think that he would have dominated the Charlton midfield on Saturday, any midfield in this division would have struggled to subdue them. He isn't the messiah and when he is rightly restored to the team, he will find it tougher and quicker than he did last year and may not be as effective.

For what it's worth, I think that Bean and Kev compliment each other better than Hunt but this pairing will not make us anymore creative, that's where I think we will rely on Saunders.

It really does seem black and white to some people. Oh ****! Didn't mean like that.

There needs to be some shades of grey.

A good season in league 2 does not make you a championship player. He was in league 2 as he wasn't good enough in higher divisions in the past.

lollollol

The Marcus Bean thread

We need Bean back asap - I just don't think there's any excuse for not playing him if he's fit. Hunt has done very well so I do think Kevin would have to make way difficult though that decision is.

The Marcus Bean thread

I am of the opinion that the best CM partnership is Bean & KOC. Due to Bean's injury we started with Hunt & KOC, and it appears that Scott feels that both have played well enough to start ahead of Bean.

It could be that Scott is being cautious in the higher league as both Hunt and KOC tend to sit deeper than Bean does, especially away from home. Hunt has the long throw & probably set pieces over Bean, but I think other than that Bean is the better player. I also think the Bean & KOC complement one another better than Hunt/KOC do.

I think overall that due in part to injuries and the wholesale changes in the squad since last season, the starting eleven this season is still evolving & that Scott's ideal staring 11 is different in probably 3, 4 or even 5 places different from the 11 that started on Saturday.

I think that by the time things have settled down, Bean will be one of those changes & will be in the starting 11.

I also think that having Bean in the team will bring out the best in Cort, he'll be further up the pitch than Hunt or KOC when Cort has the ball and will give Cort another passing option - I don't think Hunt or KOC's support the strikers as well as Bean does/would.

I know one thing...Andy Scott knows more than us lot so I think we should trust his judgement!
