I cannot belive that people are saying Bean is rubbish and He shouldent be starting. Are people blind or do they just not understand football? Without him we wouldent of won half our matches so far. His exactly what thclub has been missing for the past few season and his role in the team is key if we want to gain promotion.

Totally agree, he's the Claude Makele of league 2.
I think the problem with some of our " fans" is, they have been starved for some many years of decent football they don't recognise quality players we now have ?
There was a complete dipstick sitting near me in the paddock on Saturday, every time we started passing the ball he started getting really irate and shouting FFS get on with it. I suppose you just have to accept we have more than our share of d***heads than other clubs ?

I see Marcus as a very busy player, always in the thick of things. He does a lot of unseen work and like everyone else, will have good days and bad. At Chesterfield he was outstanding. The sloppy backheel on saturday was poor and he immediately aknowledged his error and once the ball was cleared from the resulting corner he wanted the ball straight away again. Dont forget he has dropped two divisions to come to us and it may be a bit of a culture shock to him. Going back to the Chesterfield game, he had a chance to shoot from the edge of the box and kill the game, but opted to play a short pass that was cleared. I would like to see him have a go more often because as we saw on saturday he forced the keeper into a great save. If the goals start to flow in,i can see us playing with a great deal more confidence and looking an even better side.Onwards and upwards.

Interesting the amount of criticism Marcus gets week in and out and I guess its because he does the unfashionable work in breaking up the opposition and supplying cover for defenders, he covers a lot of ground and works hard, probably not the most gifted footballer we have ever had but I would suggest that our miserly goal concediing record is in no small part due to his efforts.

Only seen him a few times but he hasnt looked rubbish or good. Average player, would be better if he got involved abit more, but saying that he is a good player to have for defending as he can actually get back.

I for one was guilty of thinking Gavin Mahon was pony when he played at Orient away (I think his debut) but how wrong was I!

I wasn't impressed with Bean against Dag & Red, where he was very quiet and against Wycombe, where he looked clumsy and gave the ball away alot, but since then he's scored against Chesterfield and looked pretty tidy and effective against Notts County so i'm willing to see give him the benefit of the doubt for now, always good to have a decent holding midfielder so hopefully he'll do the business!

When Bean keeps his distribution simple he's fine, when he doesn't he can end up looking clumsy. But I do think he gets involved in the game an awful lot, does a lot of good work, and would be better with Gary Smith alongside him...

It is no coincedence that we have one of the meanest defences in the league with a certain Mr Bean doing so much mopping up and shielding. He absolutely works his nuts off in every game I've seen him play.

I do agree that we will see the best of Bean when Smith returns as he will allow Smith the freedom to push on and hopefully improve the distribution to forwards and wide men alike.

Whilst no player is above criticism and we must always strive to improve it does surprise me how much criticism is dished out when considering the current run of results and position we are in. The team and management must be doing something right. Look at the comments of both the Notts County supporter who posted on the Notts County reaction thread and the comments of the Notts County Vice President made to abee after the match. They both thought we were the best and most organised team thay have played this season. Much of the organisation is down to Marcus being disciplined to do the job he is being asked to do.

Neither am I. I'm yet to decide exactly what Wright contributed to the game. I didn't think Marcus played that badly, albeit his distrubution was woeful. He did compete well though I thought.

I don't think he was great against Aldershit, but generally i think he's a good player. I can see him playing well with Gary Smith whenever he gets fit.

Why Bean is getting the stick and not Wright is beyond me. Wright is lightweight and offers half the protection that Bean offers.

At the moment we should be playing a mifield of Bean + O'Connor\Newton.

I don't understand the point of Wright.

I agree. Thought Williams was awful, especially first half. And Bean gave the ball away far too much, but he was competing a lot more than Wright...

my opinion is that bean has under-performed so far. Talbot and Hargreaves were both less than sataifactory at the start of their Brentford careers. I personally think that bean is not as good as those already mentioned and reminds me of Jones, who couldn't tackle to save his life but could pass almost as well as bowles, but in reverse, can tackle but cannot pass to one of ours. I don't think I have seen anybody in our m/f who gives the ball to the opposition as often as bean does, but he does disrupt the progress of the other team, as well as any other m/f I have seen so far in this league.

What I really want to see is TERRY HURLOCK (or something similar) alongside bowles, so that we can make the of Charlie Mac.

Not in this day and age...........dream on!!!

I think Bean does give our defence a bit of added protection, but he needs to improve his passing as we need to create more attacks from central midfield, and giving the ball away frequently is hardly going to help, someone like O'Connor is an intelligent player whose a better passer than Bean and can chip in with a few goals too,

it will be interesting to see if Halls lines up with Bean in centre midfield against Morecambe, i'd be tempted to bring O'Connor in too, one reason being Morecambe are a pretty weak team away from home and its a good time to try out a new midfield partnership to see if we can create more from that area

Marcus Bean is very poor. He loses that ball nearly every time he attempts a pass, fails to provide enough cover for the defence or support to the attack. I think Pead and O'Connor are both better choices as the holding midfielder.

I believe that rule requires three players who have been registered in THIS country for three years prior to being 21.
Virtually all our squad (apart from maybe bennett) fits this i believe... or have i misunderstood this?
