The Marcus Bean thread

I said before the game to mates that I was going to boo Scott if Bean wasn't in the team. It was tongue in cheek but I'm yet to find a fan who doesn't think Bean should always start when fit. He is the most influential player we have FFS and we should let him know if he does it again.
Scott has been given the plaudits and rightly so but we were insulted yesterday by him and he needs to know that. We were torn apart and bullied in midfield yesterday, who knows if Bean would have changed that first half. KOC and Hunt are/were an accident waiting to happen and we let it fecking happen.
spot on everybody says the same thing.

Careful Simon C will have a go at you for this!

Couldn't agree more, Bean plus 1, Saunders instead of Taylor, leaving Wood or Weston on the left.

Good Post

Talk around us yesterday was that there must have been a falling out between Bean and Scotty. He was our best CM by a country mile last season and made a big difference when he came on late against Brighton. As every game goes by i am more surprised when he doesnt get a starting slot. However good a squad we have, Scott simply has to play the strongest players in their best positions. I know we have injuries at the moment but we had square pegs in round holes yesterday. You cant get away with that in L1.

that's rubbish and untrue.

AS has been picking his teams to a set game plan v's all the sides we've played so far. It didn't help with Bean being injured pre season, so AS's choices was not that hard for him to make. AS may see Yeovil as a game where he needs the Hunt/O'C combination, i hope not myself, but you have to just trust his and TB's judgements. It's a tough league, points aren't going to come easily, it doesn't help when you get injuries to important members of the squad.

I think now Scott will defiently be playing Bean, im also hoping Dickson will be back next week and i would personally just give Wood a break. Put Foster right back, Saunders right wing Weston Left.

Happy with that, and of course a partner for Charlie Mac a must.

The Marcus Bean thread

Well just a suggestion but maybe try Weston upfront with Mac i know Weston isn't a striker and is a left winger but it could work.

I wasnt suggesting there has been a fallout, merely that people around me were talking about it. Personally i am of the opinion that we are a better team with Bean in the side. He had a wonderful season last year. As someone commented earlier, Scotty and Bully are no mugs and will get it right. When you look at the start of last season there was quite a lot of changes made before the side settled down and this season has been disrupted by injuries before a ball was kicked. I imagine Scotty will challenge the team he selects against Yeovil to put right what went wrong yesterday. Three of us are driving to Yeovil and i expect a good performance and we will get one. Keep the faith.

I agre bean gives much needed cover to the deffence and also he poped up with some important goals last year

I think the rumour was that there had been a falling out between me and Scotty. If he stops being a dick then we will be fine, it happens in all relationships. The missus does something that you think is crap, it goes wrong, you get right mardy and then you are fine.

The Marcus Bean thread

Bean must start on Saturday simple as that.

If the long throws were a weapon there may be an argument to keep Hunt in but they are not so there isn't.

Bean & KOC next week, nothing else will do

The Marcus Bean thread

Now that he's back in the side I fully expect he'll stay there so long as he's fit

The Marcus Bean thread

Not too sure I agree with alot of the stick Bean has been on the end of this season.

He absolutely stood out last year in a poor league, and still think that he is a good League 1 box to box player.

Although I am aware of what qualities KO'C brings to the field, I cant help but think that a different type of midfield player in the centre would compliment Bean alot better.

From the current squad I would day David Hunt is best option, but maybe if AS decides to get rid of one of the fringe wingers (Saunders / Taylor) we could spend he budget on a more technical and creative midfielder - maybe in the old Paul Evans mould?

Just a passing thought really rather then a slamming of our CM pairing. Still think the squad is good enough to finish 10-16th.

The Marcus Bean thread

sounds so simple, but a midfielder of that ilk, and good standard one, are hard to come by.

The Marcus Bean thread

He was very poor on Tuesday, and it seems as though he had another poor game at the weekend. I would give him a rest and stick Hunt in.

as it seems to be Bean who is the poorer of the two, we will never get a better opportunity to play Bostock in the middle with KOC

I mentioned on another thread that although the centre of midfield is in dire need of some creativity, I wouldn't advocate playing Bostock in the centre unless we played five across the middle. Against Leeds especially, with Bostock's lack of defensive capabilities I'd be very concerned that we'd be over run and Bostock's threat nulified anyway.

I would however be tempted to play Bostock in betweeen KOC and Hunt or Bean. It'd be a brave move though I think, altering a tried and tested formation against the League leaders but in theory a 3-5-2 formation has its merits IMO.

The Marcus Bean thread

Bean was poor at Tranmere, i'd think about giving him a breather next week.

The Marcus Bean thread

Marcus Bean is a quality player and easily good enough for league one, maybe even higher. AS has recently given him new long term contract so he must be in the long term plan, IMO he's the best central midfielder, excluding Bostock, at the club.

The Marcus Bean thread

Bean's poor performances have far outweighed his strong ones this season - and yet he
gets a new two year deal ! He might currently be in Scotts long term plan, but so presumably were Bennett, Saunders, Taylor, Kabba & Foster.
AS would appear to have licence to have two stabs at getting it right every season - not sure Mad Dog or Fitz had that luxury or the associated funds that goes with it.
If it doesnt work I'll take it back and get an exchange.

The Marcus Bean thread

Just read the press conference notes by AS – great bit of skill in making Marcus captain in regard to the 1 more booking and he would have got a 2 match suspension!

........................another injury for the Beanie man...................hope its not too serious...........midfield lost its impetus after he went off.........................

The Marcus Bean thread

Yes i'd have to agree thought he was immense on Tuesday and Saturday.
Bean Bean Bean Machine!

The Marcus Bean thread

A real shame this. I thought he played his best game for a long while on Saturday and looked good on Tuesday until he went off. It was noticeable how much we struggled without him in the second half I thought.
Agreed - I thought that he and Dave were the best midfield pairing seen for a long time at GP on Saturday. Really disappointed that they won't be playing together again this season, although hopefully they may be next year....

It's an interesting one. Personally, I think KOC has been the stand-out performer of the midfield players this season, certainly in terms of consistency. Bean, by the standards he set last year, has been poor but was back to his old self last week and is without doubt a huge asset when he plays like that.

Dave has had some poor games, but when he's good he's outstanding and again I think we've seen a steady improvement from him in recent weeks. He brings an element of creativity to the midfield that we've perhaps been lacking and is a definite first choice for me.

Whilst I don't really disagree with any of the above, let me make myself clearer as I may not quite have expressed msyelf correctly in my earlier post today. What I was trying to say was that, based on the way that Dave and Beanie played on Saturday, that was the best central midfield pairing that I can recall seeing at GP for some time.

Whilst all four of our current central midfielders have different attributes, if all of them were playing at or near the best of their ability, the 2 that I would like to see most, without a shadow of a doubt, would be Beanie and Dave, although I fully understand that different games might call for different pairings.

The Marcus Bean thread

Yes because as shown at Southend on Tuesday.
Bean likes to run forward and pass forward to wide areas.
Dave also like to get forward and picks out the through balls forward.

So if Kevin plays hes more breaking up play and passing sideways to the full backs.

Its two options which is two options I would rather have.
I do like the more attacking one with Bean and Dave but we would be vunruable.
And Keving been a great servent to the club and is having the best season I thnik hes had in a Brentford shirt....??

Just flicking through the 'Whats on TV' guide and Marcus Bean is appearing on Iron Chef on C4.

Thing is, it is not our Marcus Bean, excitement over.:(

Someone called Marcus cooking beans.

Flick the Bean and he will score!

The Marcus Bean thread

He has been playing very well this season, breaks up play very well and has carried an attacking threat with him. Misplaces the odd pass, but I can forgive him that as he wins the ball a lot :sorted:

The Marcus Bean thread

Suspended on Saturday. I'd play Spillane in his position, and replace ineligible Simpson with Wood if Saunders is out (unless Weston is ready).

The Marcus Bean thread

will be missed!

The Marcus Bean thread

Suspended?

I thought Bean had his 5 yellow cards not to long ago and missed a game??
Might be wrong
