Five-year rolling TAPs model??

Over 130 years of support between me and my dad ,going all over the country ,counts for nothing because a new fan can’t get tickets to all the big games .Why didn’t this come out in the championship ,because the new fans didn’t want to watch the likes of Huddersfield
It does count for something, you're not losing every single TAP you've ever acquired. If you're still going to games, then from what @AB has outlined, you'll be no worse off.

Why should they lose any TAPs at all though Patto?

Is this simply a case of "there's a load of people on less TAPs so lets equal things up a bit by removing TAPS from those further up"?

No one is saying your support counts for nothing. No one is questioning your loyalty.

A better system would probably be doing away with publishing TAPs altogether and just grouping people inro tiers with an indication how many games they need to attend to either stay in or go up a tier. The actual number of TAPs is meaningless.

Not to those of us who have 3-4000 more than anyone else . Means a lot to us .

Why? If you're in Tier 1 and never in danger of leaving it it's irrelevant isn't it?

Maybe , but think the sledgehammer-nut approach shouldn’t affect the tier 1

So you think older fans should always have more TAPs than younger ones?
Regardless of age ,if someone has more TAP than me ,I fully except that they should get a ticket before me . They have given up more hours / days supporting the bees .I know a few in the top bracket of TAP ,and they would still be going all over the country ,regardless of what division we are in .

Are you saying that each game is worth the same?

Surely each game is worth different which is the essence of why TAPs is useful.

Personally I think far more TAPs should be given for less popular games than currently. This would help those with lower TAPs to climb up so that they are in with a chance for the Fulham/Bournemouth type fixtures than those who don't attend the less fancied games.

Five-year rolling TAPs model??

Some people just don't do away matches. I have a ST mate of 7-8 years - has 3k+ TAP but has been away once - and even then only because I dragged him.
I do well over 4000 miles per season just going to home matches, and every away match apart from Bournemouth and Southampton would be a longer trip than the Gtech.
I do generally go to one or two aways per season, but at my advanced age that's quite enough football (and driving). I've somehow got around 4500 TAPs, and never failed to get a ticket for a game I've wanted to go to, including Bournemouth a couple of seasons ago. Ironically as its only 15 miles down the road I may not be able to get one this season, but I'll get over it.
Sine my TAPs come largely from long term attendance at home matches with an ST, I suspect I may drop down the priority order with the upcoming changes, after those who have gone to lots of aways in the Prem. But that won't affect me much, and I can hardly complain if it does.

Yes, games are weighted so any info about moving tiers would have to be an estimate. It would be useful though to tell someone in Tier 1 (for example) that they have no chance of leaving it in a season and equally useful if you were in a lower tier what you might have to do to move up.

Five-year rolling TAPs model??

They might like to know.
They might but I'm not sure how that influences someone's behaviour on attending games.

Just give way more points for less fancied games and anyone has the possibility of attending the Fulham/Bournemouth after a period of time. Currently I think the number of TAPs offered for those games is too low which is making it hard for people to climb up.

Yes. Middlesbrough away on a Tuesday night under Dijkhuizen.
I thought we played pretty decently that game. Even with Marinus’s “eccentric” coaching and IIRC naming two sub keepers we were much more competitive than when we played them there in the play offs a few months earlier. I think our goal was also the last one scored by an away team at the Riverside for about another 6 months.

I didn’t even get any TAPs as I paid on the gate.

While the likes of @braunton bee and his Dad and others are still going and therefore still earning TAPs then yes. As we stop going then we’ll stop earning.

why are you and others so keen to remove TAPs from the top Tappers in some kind of dumbing down equality.

I am far from convinced there is a problem to be solved where the answer is the culling of TAPs

Five-year rolling TAPs model??

They were hard earned?
Yes, generally they were. The top tappers will have done the hard yards in the lower divisions watching some pretty dreadful football on occasion. Yes, some TAPs came relatively easy when season tickets were purchased early but that was when the Club desperately needed that cash - and in return we were probably looking at mid-table obscurity in the third tier.
We did because we loved the Club and would follow the team whatever the Club’s status. The fact that we are now playing in the top tier is very sweet. That we now get first dibs from the TAPs EARNED seems only right - when everyone thought they’d only be needed once in a blue moon.

it seems it’s not about taps but getting younger fans higher up the list  Of course older fans will have more taps than younger fans and they’ll continue to have more than them until the older ones stop going and are diluted / caught up.
Too many old fans Brentford!!

A Fulham supporters perspective on our tickets for youth policy:

btw I have purchased tickets on exchange and received TAPs for them
Fulham: always the stain on the underwear of W London football.

“For a father taking his two children to see the recent snoozefest with Manchester United at late notice, it would have cost £320. Meanwhile, ‘category A’ games at Brentford – including United – cost £80 for an adult and two children combined. That’s the same price as a single junior ticket in the Riverside stand for that game.”

Five-year rolling TAPs model??

£1 credit (off future season tickets) for each TAP taken would sweeten the pill slightly and reward lower league loyalty.

Lots of posts from various people talking about TAPs being a badge of lower league loyalty.

TAPs started in 2013.
The 50 years in the lower divisions, 49 of them earned nothing towards anyone's TAPs total.
Even the one that did count was the most points we've ever earnt in a league season, hardly a season of woe.
The Kurt bonuses were for season tickets in the Championship.

I understand people's wish to have some recognition for "all those years in the lower leagues" but that ship sailed before anyone even thought we needed a loyalty scheme.

Not though in their current form. From what I can gather, there's a lot of bad data prior to 2021.

Isn’t the general rule:
If Kurt touched it, it’s sh*t.

Were the numbers we were taking to say Preston in 2017 when we were not in 'lower league' really that much different to those we were taking to say Rochdale in 2011?

Would people really have gone to Preston but not Rochdale? We were taking small numbers with a similar hardcore support from what I can remember.

How do you know they're still going? If they are, they have very little to nothing to worry about.

If however they've not gone for 3-4 years, and it gives someone else who has been going an opportunity and reward, then I have no issues with that.

Do you know how many TAPs the ‘Kurt bonus’ was ? Was it just the one season or more than one ?
I’m pretty sure I was a beneficiary so might be useful to prepare myself for a significant TAPs reduction.

It's more about opportunity. If people stop going, then others who have gone recently & built up their TAPS, should be allowed that opportunity.

Why not just take away TAPs from those top tier members who don’t go then? Why should I lose all my TAPs because others with high TAPs totals have stopped going?

My friend has 1500 taps, only started going since promotion. I’ve been going for 25 years and will only have 1000 more than him after this supposed change as I’ll be losing over 3000 according to that playoff email. Seems bonkers

If people aren't going they'll eventually drop off the list, so it seems like a fair thing to do. You're not losing all your TAPS though?

1000 TAPS difference, based on the last 5 years, is still a considerable amount. If in 3 years time your friend has been going more consistently and overtakes you, do you have an issue with that? Or do you think everyone in that top bracket can just pick and choose their away games without fear?

Eventually we might end up in Europe, how do you then reward those who have the hard years when we were languishing down in 11th of the Prem?

All your points are fair, I guess I like not having to worry about fastest finger first competitions for some away days, and now fear being in the same band as people who only became interested when we got promoted, which instinctively feels wrong

I worked for the club from 2012 to 2017 and therefore earned none. I had to start from zero. Everyone has past circumstances. I suspect a thousand more will put you in several higher tranches than your friend. Additionally, you must have around 5,500 at present and pretty much first in the queue? That won't change if you keep on going to games at the rate you have been.

And I completely understand that point, however that "became interested" line will always shift, so it's only fair that our loyalty programme also shifts with it.

They'll be people in years to come who only became interested when we entered the top 8/6/4, challenged for the title or after our first Champions League win (delete as appropriate).

You’re in that band already. As already pointed out, TAPs only existed for one season of lower league football. And people didn’t bother with them then as they were Kurt Point and we didn’t need Kurt to tell us who was loyal or not

So when we win the champions league and you then get your taps cut to let in the next new wave, you’ll be happy?

They were hard earned?

I think they were very well hard earned, losing to Doncaster and Yeovil. And I have seen bees at over 100 old and new grounds Away.

I do wonder how many young fans now would be watching bees had we not be in the PL. Of course, we want to grow the fanbase but the capacity is only just over 17k.

We some times acting like we have a 30,000 stadium we can not fill?

Some interesting points on this thread. Although, I do not recall any of our supporters clubs seeking supporters individual views on this subject either or have I missed something?
