Did bidwell deserve two bookings ? Hard to see from where I was. Kicking the ball away and I'm told shirt pulling? Forget the other ones the ref didn't give against them. Did Jake deserve the two bookings. Game changer!

He must have been the only player who kicked the ball away or pulled a player back then. Apart from all the others that is. I think the one that really got me was the non-corner at the end. When you're hanging on with 10 men and 2 minutes left, you really don't want to have the ref miss a chance for us to keep the ball in the Orient half - he did, they score 90 seconds later.

I was just laughing in the end - anger just seemed a bit futile.

A totally inept performance from a so called referee. Disgraceful.

I hope we never see Tierney again.

ps I do sometimes wonder if the ref dislikes us for such poor facilities?!
pps I understand the lights went out in Orient's changing room at half time and they also complained about the floodlighting. Maybe the ref felt sorry for them? :mad2:

Four key decisions went against us tonight with all occurring in the second half:

1) The blatant handball by their centre back Baudry. Punched the ball but that obviously isn't enough to warrant a penalty.

2) The phantom second yellow for young Jake Bidwell. Blew up for a very soft challenge, however once realising that the player had already been booked couldn't wait to produce it again and send him off.

3) The ex-bee (and notorious diver) Charlie Macdonald throwing himself to the floor and subsequently conning the feeble excuse of a referee.

4) And perhaps the most worrying of the night. Their goalkeeper Jones assaulting one of our ballboys for not returning the ball quick enough. It will probably not make the referee's official end of match report and he's walked off scott free. Unfortunately, for these incidents in the lower leagues, the culprit is never reprimanded.

Tale of two penalty decisions. Orient's was soft to say the least, the one not given for us was as clear a handball as you will see...Lino seem to freeze to me.

Bidwell's sending off seemed very harsh. A less pompus and "look at me" ref would have a word with him for the second.

We've seen Charlie Mac win penalties like tonight's for us before. He's quite good at conning refs for pens and sadly tonight's ref didn't need much persuading.

Uwe I believe acknowledges that it was a penalty. Also disappointed in Jake. Although I think it was two harsh bookings.

The blatant foul on douglas that started the passage of play that led to their equaliser - quite how both the referee and lino missed that I have no idea. Though I have noticed that hardly any of the linesmen we get in league one have the cojones to ever stand up to the ref and give a decision they have missed...

He definatley showed a yellow card to their keeper after our 2nd, if he dropped that, then it really would sum up an inept performance.

Its just about consistency. he penalised us whenever we gave him the opportunity but was not even handed in terms of awarding us a penalty that was far more blatant than theirs and dishing out a few yellows to them for their challenges.

The amount of decisons he gave against us which were innocuous to say the least was staggering.

If Bidwell deserved to be booked for his challenge then we're gonna get every player on both sides booked every game.

Can't appeal second yellow red cards either and with Kiernan cup tied and Barron looking ropey at left back in League 1 it leaves us with defensive issues right before the big game on Sunday.

I'm not defending a truly appalling ref but Bidwell blatantly and cynically pulled their player back. It was a clear yellow card and all those around me knew he was off the moment he did it. Don't know about the first yellow but no argument about the second.

Overall, I think the refs this season have been better than I've seen for many seasons. Even Deadman, who got a lot of stick the other day was actually quite good.

Not so last night's - although some of the blame has too lie with the assistant refs, who missed at least two clear offsides. The handball was possibly the most blatant I've ever seen: he looked like he was going to catch it. Can't call on the pen against us since it was too far away, but the two bookings looked like nothing. He called us back for a freekick when Douglas was on the break and it looked like he was playing advantage; missed a couple of foul throws by them.

And what was that Clayton thing about near the end - Clayton took the ball on; the ref blew and I believed he'd given a dodgy freekick. Instead, Orient took a throw in but CD had been nowhere near the touchline.

Earlier on, one of their players went down; we had possession and the ref signalled a head injury. Physio came on, drop ball given to them and kicked out for a goal kick. Surely as we had possesssion if it wasn't a contested drop ball it should have been ours?

Totally inept performance. My main issue is the lack of consistency, you may not agree with the decision making but he was not consistent. He was also backed up by 2 inept linesman. How they all missed the handball I will never know, throw in a dive for the penalty and numerous other bad decisions concerning tackles going in that were not pulled up, and there you have. An FFFing disgrace.

I will reiterate till the cows come home but that was never a second yellow for Jake. Only a booking if the player is breaking away which he wasnt and it looked more like two players jostling for the ball, six of one and half a dozen of the other and Jake is too strong for Smith.
I agree with #324, lots of misjudgements from the referee. Missing a clear penalty for us and also two blatants fouls on dougie then Dave near the end. You knew he got the fouls wrong because both sides literally stopped for a few seconds expecting him to blow up

I went down to the front to have a word with the steward since I saw the whole thing and it appeared to be a case of common assault. He said they were going to get the goalie to apologise, but that the kid assaulted didn't want to take it any further.

To be fair for once to the ref, if he didn't see it (and that's quite possible since it was over in a flash) he can't report it.

I felt it was a far worse case than the 'Pools keeper a couple of years ago since the kid didn't appear to be doing anything wrong whereas the ones a couple of years ago were actually invading the pitch.

Hate to disagree but he got both Bidwell bookings spot on in my opinion. The 2nd was out of frustration that Bidwell had been easily and obviously beaten by the only trick the player could have pulled off. He committed himself and as the player went round him he blatently pulled the guys shirt. Bidwell should have just jockeyed the player as he was tight on the touchline.

Disagree.. it's all about the context of the game and in the context of last night's game and the challenges going in from Orient - who were clearly playing on the Chelsea factor - Bidwell's second yellow was a nothing incident.

But it was technically bookable. Unnecessary too as it was halfway. Among the referee's errors was a total lack of consistency. Given the things he let go, he should have let that go too but he didn't. I've said it on this board before but the process of selecting referees is flawed and ex pros should be fast tracked in if they are interested. It was comical to see the ref being conned by Orient time and time again when they were going to ground under a fair challenge and getting a free kick. No one who had laced on a pair of boots at a decent level would have fallen for that stuff.

That idiot Rowlands was out to prove a point last night, he wanted to injure someone and the way he flew into challanges last night makes me wonder how he didn't injure someone and the ref hardly spoke to him. He has a short memory and forgets it's Brentford who gave him his break to get into pro football and then whats he do s**ts on us and goes and plays for that scum Rangers, the blokes an a**ehole and doesn't deserve what he's got, he clearly hates us and the chants towards him probably incensed him further, but I loved every chant towards him

It may have been a booking, but when you let everything else go, you can't send a player off for that!

It totally ruined the game.

If players are getting red cards for that we should be seeing 2-3 a game!

Jonathan Moss reffing the Chelsea game. At least it's a lower league ref. A premiership ref would probably give everything in their favour. Mike Dean is fourth official.

Moss IS a Select Group Ref. Probably the least regarded though.

Thought Mr Moss refereed the game well today. Considering Turnbull should've been sent off and Harlee's handball for a definite penalty, probably evened itself out in the end!

Reffed the game well.

I am certain he was going to book Dave in the second half as he whistled and reached towards his pocket.

However, the injury delayed and gave him thinking time and he gave Dave a lecture instead.

That was excellent refereeing I thought. The pitch was at its worst there and I think he realised that was a factor.

Caution for Turnbull picking up the ball wouldn't have been within the laws of the game. Maybe stupid, but can't blame the ref.

Yellow for Turnbull on the pen seemed fair - we'd never have got a goal out of that.

Harlee handball could have been given - maybe the ref got it right, or maybe he just couldn't bear to give it against us at that time of the game.

If the consensus is that he had a good game, that is influenced by the fact that anything marginal went our way. I guess it makes a pleasant change.

I thought the ref was quality but don't understand why Turnbull wasnt given a red card for the handling inside area.

I'd he hasn't have dived on it Clayton would have run through and tapped into an empty net.
