The reason why Mac has lasted as long as he has in the game is that for all his professional flaws (and he had many), he ran his socks off and tried his best. This, even if he did resemble a headless chicken at times.

The likes of Paul Brooker, who was blessed with far more natural ability, could learn much (or could have learned much) from Mac.

Mark McCammon

What he lacked in ability, he made up for in commitment.

I'm suprised he has stayed in the game so long, but good luck to the guy, he shows committment, which many players out there could learn from.

3 years thoughlol

"The 29-year-old was a key member of the Rovers squad that clinched promotion to the Championship last season.

He made 40 appearances and scored eight goals in the 2007-08 campaign but turned down the offer of a new contract with Doncaster. "

How is scoring one goal every five games being a 'key member'?

We have had some many worse forwards than The Trolley, haven't we?

Fitz
Jones
Thorpe
Bowen
Funnell
Johnson for example.

A bit harsh on Funnell (not great, but had a hard job replacing Steve Phillips and was OK-ish). Agree with the others and, going back a little further, would add Woon and Webb to the list

I'll go along with that.

Good little player Tony Funnell, didn't he score an important goal against Millwall that saved us from relegation one season?

Wasn't he our record signing at the time? I remember thinking that he was going to be the dogs but he ended up being a sub.

Great bit on The Championship yesterday, the Gills singing section were banging out "10 me, we only need 10 men..." as the ball got slowly deflected into their net for the winner. Now who do I like worse, Gillingham or Aldershit?

They had ten men when he was on the pitch.

Allegedly part of a deal that would see Tom Craddock swap one lot of pikies for another

Mark McCammon

Would love to have Craddock at GP

possibly, not much of a jump from conference to League 2 football though. I'd much rather we secured first dibs on Simpson if he becomes surplus at Galpharm in the summer and try our luck with Chennells.

Agree about Simpson depending upon the cost. Chennells I haven't seen but I would be happy for a cheap gamble on someone who scores for fun at a lower level.

He might be the next Matthew Metcalf.... or Charlie Austin.

Mark McCammon

no surprise he been released by Gills.. he turned down Dover when Andy Hessenthaler was in charge there..

Mark McCammon

Thought he'd gone months ago as I haven't seen his name in the squad when looking at results and line-ups since the turn of the year
